Step 1: Be Prepared!
To organize
your voter registration drive:
Set
up a time and place for the drive:
Speak to the Student Activities Office or Principal’s Office for permission to
set up the drive. Speak to the Social Studies Department to see whether you could
visit classes. Arrange to have a table and a video player available for the
drive.

Find a Notary to help out.
Vermont voter registration forms must be notarized. To ensure you have a notary
at your drive you can:
- Become a notary-
If you are 18
years old you can become a notary by filling out a form at the Superior Court
in your county and returning it with a fee of $20.
- Ask your School Administrative Office-
Almost every school has a staff member who is a notary. Perhaps this
individual can assist with the registration drive.
- Ask your Town Clerk-
Many Town Clerks in your area would be happy to come to your school to help
you run your High School Voter Registration Drive. They can also identify a
Justice of the Peace who would be willing to help by notarizing
registration forms.

Step 2: Get the word out!
There are many ways to get the word out. You can design posters, ask teachers
to make an announcement to their classes and you can be sure to set up in a
prominent location!

print our voter registration posters!
Step 3: After the Drive
Completed registration forms must be returned to the town clerk where the
applicant lives.
