Youth Vote: Run a Voter Registration Drive

Printer Friendly Version

Step 1: Be Prepared!

To organize your voter registration drive:
Set up a time and place for the drive: Speak to the Student Activities Office or Principal’s Office for permission to set up the drive.  Speak to the Social Studies Department to see whether you could visit classes.  Arrange to have a table and a video player available for the drive.

Get Voter Registration Forms: Call 1-800-439-VOTE or e-mail govote@sec.state.vt.us to order voter registration forms, or contact your local town clerk.

Order Buttons, Stickers and Video: Call 1-800-439-VOTE or e-mail govote@sec.state.vt.us to order “Your Vote is Your Voice” buttons and bumper stickers.  We also have a 7 minute video available to illustrate to first time voters what to expect at the polls. Place an order!

Step 2:  Get the word out!
There are many ways to get the word out.  You can design posters, ask teachers to make an announcement to their classes and you can be sure to set up in a prominent location!  Download and print our voter registration posters!

Step 3:  After the Drive
Completed registration forms must be returned to the town clerk where the applicant lives.
