          PATRICIA A. MCDONALD           


PATRICIA A. MCDONALD of Berlin, Washington County, Republican, was born in Summit, New Jersey on July 8, 1943 and moved to Vermont in 1988 after working for nineteen years at CIBA-GEIGY Corporation, a leading manufacturer headquartered in Ardsley, New York. After relocating to Vermont, she spent three and a half years with the Merchants Bank and served in the capacity of Vice-President, Human Resources and Regulatory Management. In 1991, she was appointed Commissioner of Personnel by Governor Richard Snelling. She then served Governors Howard Dean and James Douglas in several leadership positions: Commissioner of Labor, Commissioner of Employment and Training, Secretary of Transportation, Deputy Commissioner of Education, Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and Commission of Personnel, a position she held twice. She is the Chair of the Town of Berlin Economic Development Committee and member of the Town’s Water Committee. She is the former Chair of the Berlin Select Board and member of numerous Town committees. She is a member of several regional committees to include the Central Vermont Economic Development Council and Workforce Investment Board and serves on the Vermont Historical Society Board and Central Vermont Medical Center’s Corporate Member Committee. As a Member of the House of Representatives during the 2007-2008 and 2009-2010 Sessions, she served on the House Education Committee and is a member of the House Government Operations Committee and the Joint Legislative Government Accountability Committee. She is married to Captain J. Bruce McDonald, Retired Vermont State Police, has a daughter, two stepsons and two grandsons.
