JOSEPH A. BAKER of West Rutland, Rutland County, Republican, was born in Proctor, Vermont, on March 14, 1959, and has been a resident of West Rutland since July of 1984. His occupation for the past 21 years has been working as a Metrologist for General Electric Aircraft Engines in Rutland, Vermont. He was educated at Proctor Graded & High Schools, Proctor, Vermont, and numerous military and civilian schools since, leaning to the mechanical/technological fields. Past military service includes 4 years active and 1-year reserve, U.S. Navy. Activities in civic organizations include: American Legion Post 87 West Rutland, member and past commander, West Rutland Rotary, West Rutland’s Historical Society, Knights of Columbus Council 232 Rutland & St. Bridget’s Catholic Churches, Church Council and Finance Committee chair. Governmental appointments include; Rutland County’s Solid Waste Committee & West Rutland’s Board of Civil Authority. Elective offices held include 7 years on the West Rutland’s Select Board, from 1989-1996 and member of Vermont’s House of Representatives, from 1999-2000 (local government committee), 2001-2004 (government operations committee), 2005-2006 (health care finance committee), 2007-2008, 2009-2010. DAVID EARLE POTTER of Clarendon, Rutland County, Democrat, was born on December 6, 1943, in Proctor, Vermont, and became a resident of present town in 1980. Occupation: part-time teacher/tree farmer. He was educated at Rutland High School, Rutland, Vermont; University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont, B.A., 1965; University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, M.S., 1973. He is married to Susan Potter and they have one daughter and one son. Memberships and affiliations: University of Vermont Board of Trustees; West Rutland Rotary; Rutland County Audubon Society; VT Federation of Sportsman Clubs; Rutland Regional Transportation Council; VT Workforce Development Council; Clarendon Selectboard, 14 yrs.; past Clarendon Town/School District Moderator; Clarendon Planning Commission; Retired Rutland High School teacher, 31 years; West Rutland American Legion Post 87; Vietnam Veterans of America (Rutland Chapter 1); Veterans of Foreign Wars Rutland Post 648; Rutland Fair (life member); National Guard Association of U.S. (life member); VT Sugarmakers Association; VT Woodland Association; 2008 VT Tree Farmer of the Year; Active duty USAF 1967-1972; Vietnam Veteran; VT Air National Guard Retired, SQ Commander, Lt.
