    JIM CONDOS    


JIM CONDOS born January 29, 1951, in Orange, NJ, became a Chittenden County resident in 1955. Jim attended Burlington schools before graduating from South Burlington HS (1969) and the University of Vermont (1974). His daughter, Chelsea, b.1982, earned her Bachelor's/Masters from Georgia State University. Jim is the Public Affairs Manager for Vermont Gas Systems, Inc. in South Burlington. Jim currently represents South Burlington on the Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization (1999-2007, VChair 2001-03, Chair 2003-04). Jim served on the South Burlington City Council from 1989-2007 (VChair 1995-99, Chair 1999-2007). Nationally, Jim served on the National League of Cities (NLC) Board of Directors (2005-06). He was the NLC Board Representative to the: Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Policy Committee (EENR) and NLC Immigration Task Force. He previously served as a member of: NLC EENR Policy Committee (2002-04); and, NLC Clean Air Task Force (2002). Jim's other public service includes: Vermont League of Cities and Towns Board of Directors; VLCT Transportation Committee; VLCT Finance, Administration, Intergovernmental Relations Committee; Chittenden County Solid Waste District; Vermont Public Transit Advisory Council; Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission; CCRPC Transportation & Utilities Committee; CCRPC Housing Committee; Chittenden County Transportation Authority; South Burlington City Center Committee; and, South Burlington Zoning Board. EDWARD S. FLANAGAN of Burlington, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Washington, D.C., on December 18, 1950. Occupation: attorney. He was educated at Gonzaga High School, Washington, D.C.; and Northfield-Mt. Hermon School, Northfield, Massachusetts; University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (B.A., history/political science, 1973); Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts (J.D., 1976). He worked in the U.S. Senate under the patronage of Senator George D. Aiken and in the U.S. Department of Justice during summers of college and law school; policy analyst in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Health, Education & Welfare with oversight responsibilities for the Food & Drug Administration and National Institutes of Health, 1978-79; associated with the law firm of Hoff, Curtis, P.C. in Burlington, 1988-1993; Champlain College Instructor (2004); Vermont Public Research Interest Group (Board of Directors, 2001-present); member of the Capital Debt Affordability Advisory Committee (1993-2001); Vermont Historical Society, Board of Directors (1993-2001). VIRGINIA LYONS of Williston, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born September 24, 1944, in Auburn, New York, and has been a resident since 1974. Occupation: College Professor at Vermont State Colleges part time; Previous employer Trinity College, VT 27 years. She is married to Richard Lyons, MD, and they have two daughters. She was educated at Drew University, Madison, NJ AB; Rutgers the State University, New Brunswick, NJ MS; University of Vermont, Burlington, VT Doctorate. Attended other schools and had postgraduate work in Sciences. HINDA MILLER of Burlington, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born on April 18, 1950 in Montreal, Quebec, and became a resident of present town in 1977. Occupation: self-employed business consultant /yoga teacher. She was educated at Parson's School of Design, New York, NY. (B.F.A. 1972); and New York University, New York, NY (M.F.A./Theatre Design, 1976). She is married to Dr. Joel Miller and they have one daughter and one son. Organizations: Former Chair of the Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce; Burlington Airport Commissioner, Board of Directors of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters; New England Culinary Institute and Vermont Youth Orchestra, Trustee Emeritus of Champlain College. DOUGLAS A. RACINE of Richmond, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Burlington, Vermont, on October 7, 1952. He was educated in Burlington, graduating from Burlington High School in 1970. He graduated with honors from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey in 1974. He worked for U.S. Senator Patrick J. Leahy as a legislative assistant in Washington and Montpelier from 1975 to 1978. He served 5 terms in the State Senate representing Chittenden County from 1983 to 1992. He served on the Senate Appropriations Committee and was chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee. In 1989, he was elected to serve as president pro tempore and served in this position until 1992. He was elected Lieutenant Governor in 1996 and served 3 terms in that role from 1997 to 2002. He is a small business owner serving as vice president of Willie Racine's Jeep/Isuzu, Inc. He serves on the Mount Mansfield Union school board, having been elected to that role in 2005. Member of the Senate: 1983-84, 1985-86, 1987-88, 1989-90, 1991-92, 2007-2008. President pro tempore, 1989-92. Lieutenant Governor: 1997-98, 1999-2000, 2001-2002.

DIANE B. SNELLING

of Hinesburg, Chittenden County, Republican, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 18, 1952; became a resident of Hinesburg in 1983. Occupation: Artist. She was educated at Champlain Valley Union High School, Hinesburg, Vermont (1970); Harvard/Radcliffe College, Cambridge, Massachusetts (A.B./V.E.S., 1974); New York University, New York City, New York (M.A./Art, 1994).
