   DONALD E. "DON" COLLINS    


DONALD E. "DON" COLLINS of Swanton, Franklin County, Democrat, was born in Lowell, Vermont, on November 11, 1942, and became a resident of Franklin County in 1983. Occupation: Educator for 32 years; the final fourteen as the Superintendent of Schools for the Fairfax and Georgia School Districts. He currently works for Vermont Partners Consulting, a family owned business that offers construction management services and conducts estate sales of antiques and personal property, as well as operating two antiques shops. He was educated at Lowell Graded School; Newport Center High School; Johnson State College-Bachelor's degree; University of Maine-Master's degree; University of Vermont-Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study. He is married to Susan Lancaster Collins and they have two daughters, Stephanie and Kristina, and four grandchildren. Affiliations and Memberships: Vermont State Colleges Trustee: 2004-2008; School Director and Justice of the Peace-Swanton since 2002; Member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Free and Accepted Masons; Past President of: Vermont Council on Reading, Vermont Personnel and Guidance Association and Johnson State College Alumni Association. Chair of the Senate Education Committee, 2004-2006, Co-Chair of School Governance Council, Co-Chair of the Legislative Sportsman's Caucus. Member of the Senate: 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008. SARA BRANON KITTELL of Fairfield, Franklin County, Democrat, was born in Burlington, Vermont, on November 8, 1946, grew up and resides in Fairfield. Occupation: Nurse/former small business owner. She attended Fairfield Elementary School, Fairfield, Vermont; St. Mary's High School, St. Albans, Vermont; Jeanne Mance School of Nursing, Burlington, Vermont (R.N., 1967); University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont (B.S.N., 1981). She is married to William Kittell, and they have three daughters. Member of: Democratic County Committee; Board Member: Vermont Fresh Network, Franklin/Grand Isle Early Childhood Council, Vermont Children's Aid Society. Member of the Senate: 1995-96 (appointed on June 19, 1995), 1997-98, 1999-2000, 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008. Senate Agriculture Committee, chair, 1997-2004.
