MARGARET R. CHENEY of Norwich, Windsor County, Democrat, was born in Hanover, NH, on August 1, 1952. She grew up in Malaysia, Holland, Nicaragua, India, Peru, and Washington, DC. After graduating from Harvard University (B.A., 1974), she was a reporter and managing editor of the Menlo-Atherton Recorder in Menlo Park, California. She was managing editor of The Washingtonian magazine in Washington, DC, from 1977 to 1989, when she moved to Norwich. In 1998, she was elected to the Norwich School Board (chair, 1999-2002) and the interstate Dresden School Board (chair, 2003-2007). She has one daughter and two sons in college and high school. She has served on the boards of the Norwich Historical Society, Child and Family Services, and other community organizations. She teaches Spanish at the Sharon Academy in Sharon, VT. JAMES B. (JIM) MASLAND of Thetford, Orange County, Democrat, was born in Hanover, New Hampshire, on December 7, 1948, and became a resident of present town in 1979. Occupation: Work-based learning consultant, builder. He was educated at Hanover Elementary, Hanover, New Hampshire; Williston Academy, Easthampton, Massachusetts; Stanford University, Palo Alto, California (B.A., 1972; M.S., 1972). He is married to the former Suzanne M. Sheldon, and they have five daughters and two sons. Member of: Upper Valley Habitat, Site Supervisor; Two Rivers Ottaquechee Regional Planning Commission, Thetford Rep.; Thetford selectboard, 1987-2000; Vermont League of Cities and Towns, 1991-1994 (president, 1992-93); Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation; George D.
