Co-founder/Owner of Huet-Consejo, General Contracting (Paris, France), 1975-1980; Moved to Vermont in 1980 to Own/Operate The Jay Village Inn, 1980-1984; Became an American Citizen November 14, 1986; Moved to Sheldon, Vermont in 1988 to work for L & T Satellite Systems, and has been the Owner since 1990; Charter Member & Past President of Jay Volunteer Fire Department; Past Member of: Jay Area Chamber of Commerce, Newport Chamber of Commerce, Vermont Hospitality & Travel Agency, and Jay Peak Lodging Association. FRANKLIN-5 KATHY LAVOIE KATHY LAVOIE of Swanton, Franklin County, Republican was born in Burlington, Vermont, on August 5, 1963, and was raised in Milton, Vermont. She became a resident of Swanton in 1984 where she resides with her husband, Eugene, and sons Ross, age 17, and Ryan, age 15. Her grown stepdaughter, Angela, resides in Grand Isle, Vermont. Lavoie, a graduate of Milton High School, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a double minor in Economics and Philosophy from Trinity College of Vermont. She has been an employee of The St. Albans Cooperative Creamery for the past 11 years and is presently the Manager of Information Systems and Technology. Prior to that time, she was with General Electric/Martin Marietta for 13 years as a Program Material Planner, and a graduate of their Technical and Manufacturing Apprentice Program. Lavoie has been a Swanton Planning Commissioner for 10 years, a former Swanton School Board Director and Swanton P.T.O. Co-President, and member of the Swanton Downtown Vitality Task Force. She is also charter member of The Friends of Missisquoi Bay organization; and a religious education teacher for the Saymore Program for students pursuing Confirmation in the Catholic faith. She is a member of the Vermont Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus. She is a parish member of the Holy Angels, St. Albans. Member of the House: 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008.
