JOAN G. LENES
of Shelburne, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born on February 24, 1951, in New Britian, CT, and became a resident of present town in 1979. Occupation: Educator. She was educated at Winter Haven High School, Winter Haven, FL, the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL (BA Sociology 1973); University of Vermont, Burlington, VT (M.Ed. 1980). She is married to Helmut A. Lenes and they have one daughter and one son. Memberships: Champlain Valley Union High School Board member; Child Care Resource Board and Chair; Connecting Youth Board member, Meals on Wheels coordinator and driver. She had previously worked and taught at UVM in the Center for Service-Learning and had owned an outdoor sporting goods business in Shelburne with her husband. Member of the House: 2007-2008.
