HELEN HEAD
of South Burlington, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Griffin, Georgia, on May 12, 1953, and became a resident of South Burlington in 1992. She was educated at the University of New Hampshire (B.A., 1975) and the University of Vermont (Master of Public Administration, 1989). She is married to Thomas Mercurio and they have one daughter and one son. Her career has focused on the development and administration of non-profit organizations. Her community involvement has included board membership of organizations that address domestic violence, developmental disabilities, court diversion, and ecumenical action. Presently she serves as a volunteer in the South Burlington schools; trustee of the South Burlington Community Library; and delegate from the House to the Vermont Commission on Alzheimer's Disease.
