WILLIAM J. LIPPERT, JR.
of Hinesburg, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Danville, Pennsylvania, on January 18, 1950. Occupation: Samara Foundation of Vermont, founder and senior foundation officer. From 1973-1996 employed by the Counseling Service of Addison County, serving as executive director, 1984-1996. Educated at Williamsport High School, Williamsport, Pennsylvania; Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana (B.A., History, 1972); Antioch University New England, Keene, New Hampshire (M.A., Counseling Psychology, 1979); John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University - Senior Executives in State & Local Government (2007). His civil union partner is Enrique Peredo, of Toto, Guam. He has served on numerous legislative study committees including civil rights enforcement (1994), future corrections policy (1995), Vermont's mental health system (1996); Judicial Retention Committee (1995-2000, Chair 2005-2006); Administrative Rules Committee (1997-2000; Chair 1998-2000); Corrections Oversight Committee. Member of the House: 1994 (seated April 1, 1994), 1995-96, 1997-98, 1999-2000 (Judiciary, Vice Chair), 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005-2006 & 2007-2008 Chair of House Judiciary Committee.
