    GEORGE R. COPPENRATH    


GEORGE R. COPPENRATH of Barnet, Caledonia County, Republican, was born July 16, 1945 in Clinton, MA. Moved to Peacham, VT in 1950, attended elementary schools in Peacham and West Barnet and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1963. Received BS in Economics from University of Louisiana – Monroe. Married Susan Marie Wilcke in 1971 and they have three sons, Ethan, Taylor and Drew. Worked for AHS in various planning capacities for 15 years, after which he purchased and operated The Ritchie Agency for 22 years in West Barnet. George is a licensed insurance agent and broker, received the CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation in 1989, is Past President of Professional Insurance Agents of Vermont and was “Agent of the Year” in 1996. One of the founders of Barnet Rescue Squad, and a firefighter in Barnet for 15 years, serving as Fire Chief from 1981 – 1991. Served on Hearing Panel, Professional Responsibility Board, Vt Supreme Court from 2000 – 2005. Served on Prudential Committee of Fire District #5 (formerly West Barnet Village) alternating chairs from 1992 – 2004. Member of Board of Directors of Lake Harvey Association 2000 – 2005. Coached basketball at Barnet Elementary School and coached AAU basketball. Played basketball, rep Vt 60+ age group at Nat’l Senior Games, Pittsburgh, PA 2005. Member Caledonia Forest & Stream Club, Inc. Appointed to Senate by Governor Douglas in April, 2005. Religious preference: Presbyterian.   JANE KITCHEL


     

JANE KITCHEL of Danville, Caledonia County, Democrat, was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, on August 23, 1945; growing up in Danville on the family farm. Occupation: Public Administrator. Retired from the State of Vermont, former Secretary, Agency of Human Services. Jane was educated in Danville Schools, graduating from Danville High School in 1963; Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (A.B., 1967); Toll Fellow, Council of State Governments, 1994. She is married to Robert Kitchel and they have one son. Jane is President, Board of Trustees, Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium (St. Johnsbury, Vt.); Secretary, Danville Chamber of Commerce; Corporator, Northeastern Vermont Regional Corporation; Member, Danville Congregational Church.
