MITZI JOHNSON of South Hero, Grand Isle County, Democrat, was born on November 18, 1970 in Clifton Park, New York, and became a resident of present town in 1993. She was educated at Shenendehowa Central Schools, Clifton Park, NY, University of Vermont, Burlington Vermont (B.S. 1993). Mitzi also completed coursework in the SOLO Wilderness Emergency Medicine and Leadership School; Agricultural Business Management through UVM Extension Service, and Northern New England Tradeswomen's STEP-UP program. She manages vegetable production and the apple harvest crew at Allenholm Farm in South Hero. She also paints silk scarves sold throughout the Northeast and teaches piano lessons. Before the legislature occupied her winters, she assisted at her family's third generation manufacturing business and did consulting work for the Vermont Freedom to Marry Task Force. She is a captain and EMT with South Hero Rescue, founding board member of the South Hero Land Trust, and member of UVM's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Advisory Board.     IRA TROMBLEY    


IRA TROMBLEY of Grand Isle, Grand Isle County, Democrat, was born on April 16, 1952, on the North Hero (Vt.) family farm, and became a resident of present town in 1978. He graduated from Milton High School, Milton, Vermont. He has a B.S. in Human Development with minors in mathematics and physics, a Master of Extension Education in Adult and Vocational Education Administration and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Special Education from the University of Vermont. He has a Master of Arts from Johnson State College and a Certificate of Gerontological Studies from Florida State University. He has a Vermont Certificate in Public Management from the State of Vermont. Ira has three children. His daughter attends graduate school at the U. of Mass, a son attends South Burlington High School, and a second son lives in California. The Trombleys attend the Congregational Church of South Hero. Ira worked for the state for 24 years, 3 years in corrections, 12 years in vocational rehabilitation, 2 years as a school manager and 7 years as a prevention consultant. He currently works one day a week as a guidance counselor and has a small counseling and consultation practice. Ira is a Grand Isle School Director, a Justice of the Peace, and an Assistant Scoutmaster, President of the Grand Isle Rotary, Secretary to the FGI Workforce Investment Board, President of the FGI Community Partnership, a member of the Grand Isle Recreation Committee, and an Alburg Revitalization volunteer.
