of South Burlington, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Rye, New York, on May 21, 1952, and moved to Chittenden County in
1976 and South Burlington in 1979. Occupation: faculty member, UVM Graduate Social Work Program. Education: graduated from Rye
Country Day School in Rye, New York; received a BS in psychology (1974) from Union College in Schenectady, New York, an MSW (1975)
from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and a C.A.S. in Administration and Planning (1991) from the University of
Vermont. Married to Richard P. Hayes with a stepdaughter, Jennie Hayes. Currently a board member of the Family Connection
Visiting Center and the Green Mountain Prevention Projects; trustee of the Thomas Lawlor and Jennie Christy Hayes Foundation;
member of the South Burlington Democratic Committee; and advisory board member of Influencing State Policy. Past community
involvement: the South Burlington Economic Development Committee, Howard Center for Human Services (board member); United Way
(Chair, Special Projects Committee); Youthbuild (board member); American Cancer Society (Vermont advisory board); Champlain Drug
and Alcohol Services (board president); Governor's Commission on Women (commissioner); Vermont Children's Forum (board member)
and the National Association of Social Workers (president, Vermont and chair, National Nominations and Leadership Committee) and
South Burlington planning commissioner. South Burlington justice of the peace and member of the board of civil authority since
